Recently, the 2024 Annual Conference of the China Translation Association was opened in Changsha. This conference was co-hosted by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, the Publicity Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and the Department of Education of Hunan Province, the China Translation Association, the Translation Institute of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and Hunan Normal University.
At the opening ceremony, such awards as the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Translation ', 'Senior Translator', and “Foreign Translators of Chinese Culture' were presented, and for the first time, the new awards, the 'Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Translator' were also bestowed. Thirteen translators were awarded the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Translation', 73 translators were granted the honorary title of 'Senior Translator', and 125 translators were awarded the honorary title of 'Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Translation Workers'. Professor Wang Yong, Director of the MTI Education Center and Compilation Studio at our Foreign Language College and Professor Wang Ana, Deputy Director of the MTI Education Center and the academic director of German language program, were honored with the title of 'Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Translator'.
According to the announcement released by the China Translation Association, the project of the fifth Fu Lei Youth Translation Talent Development Plan has completed its evaluation, with a total of 10 projects winning bids nationwide.Lu Quanzhi’s project, the translation, Publication and further research of “La Capitale De L’humanite ” won the bid.
The China Translation Association was established in 1982 and is the only national social organization in the field of translation in China. It is composed of unit members and individual members in various provinces, regions, and cities across the country. In 2024, the China Translation Association establishes the honorary title of 'Outstanding Young and Middle aged Translator' based on the existing awards of 'Senior Translator' (2001), 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Translation ' (2006), and 'Foreign Translator of Chinese Culture' (2022). Our teachers participated in this series of awards for the first time, and two of them were awarded the title of 'Outstanding Young and Middle aged Translator', a symbol of strong translation capabilities of our faculty.
The Fu Lei Youth Translation Talent Development Program is sponsored by the Translation Theory and Translation Teaching Committee of the China Translation Association, aiming to inherit the spirit of Fu Lei. The Program focuses on the development of the Sino French translation industry, cultivates Sino French translation talents, and contributes to cultural exchanges between China and France. Dr. Lu Quanzhi has performed well in both English and French translation, with numerous translated works published in recent years. His success in this bid fully demonstrates his profound foundation in translation research.
The honorary titles and project awards are a full recognition of the young and middle-aged faculties members in our college who have been deeply engaged in the field of translation practice for many years. In recent years, our college has taken multiple measures in the field of translation, continuously improving its translation capabilities and influence. Our college has achieved remarkable results in project initiation, translation publication, and serving society. It is believed that our teachers and students will continue to work hard, devote themselves to the field of translation and international communication, cultivate more high-level translation talents for our country, and promote the development of China's translation industry in the new era and enhance the exchange and mutual learning among all civilizations.
