On June 5th, the Joint Management Committee Meeting for the Sino-U.S Cooperative Education Program—the Undergraduate English Major Education Program jointly organized by USST and Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY)—was held at the Yates Hall. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Zhang Hua, and Professor Kate Pechenkina, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Business at Queens College of CUNY, participated online. Professor Tao Wang, the head of the joint program and Deputy Director of the Department of Economics, Dean Liu Qin of Foreign Language College, Deputy Director Xu Jingwei of the International Exchange Office, and relevant leaders from Foreign Language College and the International Exchange Office attended the meeting.
Vice President Zhang Hua fully affirmed the significance of the project in his speech. He pointed out that the undergraduate program for English majors, jointly organized by the two universities, has been carried out for 28 years, and more than 2,000 talents have been trained. He said that the university will continue to uphold the principle of 'win-win cooperation', fully support and expand the cooperation projects between the two schools, and jointly promote the continuous development of the cooperative relationship between the two sides. Professor Kate Pechenkina expressed the expectations of the Queen's College in the project in her speech, pointing out that the project is the priority of the Queen's College to promote the international cooperation strategy, hoping to further develop new areas of cooperation with the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology on the basis of the fruitful results of the cooperation between the two universities.
The meeting also heard Liu Qin's report on the annual schooling work of the project and Tao Wang's report on the annual faculty dispatch arrangement. The participants discussed the future development of the project and signed the meeting minutes.
