Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony for the Sino-US Joint Program, Class of 2025

On June 8, the undergraduate commencement ceremony for the Class of 2025 from Sino-US joint program was held in the College Lecture Hall.


Present at the ceremony were Cai Yonglian, Vice President of USST; Professor Tao Wang, the American program director from Queens College, City University of New York; the Party and administrative leaders of the Foreign Languages College; alumnus Mr. Li Zhen, donor of the "Siyuan Scholarship"; department chairs; faculty members; graduates and their parents. The graduation ceremony was presided over by Professor Liu Qin, Dean of CFL.


Part I: Honoring the Past · Passing the Torch

The graduation ceremony commenced with the national anthem. Dean Liu Qin extended her heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their parents and proceeded to introduce the university leaders, faculty members, and distinguished guests present at the ceremony.



Part II: Words from the Faculty · Illuminating the Future

Vice President Cai Yonglian addressed the graduates. In her speech, she reviewed the development of the joint program. She expressed gratitude to the faculty from both China and the United States for their dedicated efforts in the program and extended congratulations to all the graduating students. She encouraged them to delve deeply into their professional fields, to nurture a profound sense of national identity and global responsibility, to bridge cultural divides, and ultimately to become communicators of civilization.

Vice President Cai concluded by hoping all graduates would always bear in mind the USST motto "Faith, Justice, Diligence, Benevolence, Reflection, Learning, Aspiration, and Perseverance." She urged them to work diligently, demonstrate to the world the wisdom and responsibility of Chinese young generation, and a credible, admirable, and amiable image of China.

On behalf of Queens College, CUNY, Professor Tao Wang conveyed his good wishes to the graduating class. He expressed his gratitude to the leadership, faculty, and parents for their unwavering dedication and hard work in education. Professor Tao Wang concluded his remarks by wishing the graduates success in their future career. He expressed his hope that they would hold fast to their dreams and embrace challenges dauntlessly.


   Part III: A Moment of Glory · Witnessing Growth

          Professor Han Geling, Vice Dean of CFL, announced the list of students who had been awarded the honor of “Shanghai Outstanding Graduate”. Vice Dean Zhang Le announced the recipients of the “University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Outstanding Graduate” award. Shen Lianlian, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee, announced the list of students honored with the “Cooperative Program Outstanding Graduate Scholarship”. Alumnus Mr. Li Zhen took the stage to announce the recipients of the "Siyuan Scholarship."

Part IV: Hearts Bound to USST

Amidst great anticipation and heartfelt blessings, all graduating students took the stage to receive their diplomas. University leaders and distinguished guests on the podium turned the tassels on the graduates' mortarboards, a symbolic gesture of their completed journey.

In a touching gesture of gratitude, student representatives presented bouquets of flowers to their teachers, expressing thanks for their guidance and instruction throughout the years.

On behalf of the faculty, Mr. Shen Xietian addressed the graduates. He walked the graduates through their shared journey of academic exploration and expressed the bittersweet sentiment of parting and his good wishes for the students as they embark on their new paths. On behalf of the graduates, Fang Yuqi delivered a speech, during which she extended sincere gratitude to the faculty for their dedicated guidance over the past four years and her heartfelt wishes for her alma mater.

The graduation ceremony drew to a close as faculty and students gathered for a group photo, capturing this memorable moment.
