CFL Won 15 Awards for Scientific Translation Papers
On April 11, 2026, the “2026 Annual Meeting of the Shanghai Society for Scientific and Technological Translation (SSSTT) and the Seminar on the Future Development of Translation in the Artificial Intelligence Era” was held at the Songjiang Campus of SISU. Organized by SSSTT and hosted by the Institute of Language Sciences of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), the meeting brought together hundreds of experts, scholars, teachers, and student representatives from universities, research institutions, enterprises, and public institutions across the country to discuss cutting-edge issues and the future of the translation discipline in the era of artificial intelligence.
Centered on the theme of “The Future Development of Translation in the Artificial Intelligence Era”, the conference followed the latest trends and addressed the core concerns of the industry. It featured five parallel forums, covering such hot topics as “Translation Quality Assessment and Empirical Research in the Era of Large Models”, “Literary and Cultural External Translation in the Era of Large Models”, “Vertical Fields and Terminology Translation Empowered by Large Models”, “Translation Education and Talent Cultivation Driven by Large Models”, and “Human-Machine Collaboration Paradigm and Industry Ecology Reshaped by Large Models”.
Present at the conference were many well-known scholars from prestigious universities, including Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Hunan Normal University, as well as experts from leading industry enterprises such as Yiguo Yimin Group. A total of six keynote speakers and more than 60 paper presenters shared their latest research achievements in the parallel forums. Professor Hu Kaibao, Chairman of SSSTT, Assistant to the Presidentat SISU, and Dean of the Institute of Language Sciences; Professor Yang Ping, Editor-in-Chief ofChinese Translators Journal, and other academic dignitaries attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
This conference offered a high-level academic exchange platform for the translation academia and industry, which is of great significance for promoting the theoretical innovation and practical development of the translation discipline in the era of artificial intelligence. During the conference, theexperts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the integration of large language models and translation teaching, new paradigms of translation quality assessment, and the future landscape of human-machine collaboration, and reached many constructive academic consensuses.
Professor Han Geling, Professor Wu Biyu, Associate Professor Leng Bingbing , Aliya Aini and a student team from CFL participated in this conference. The two professors were invited to serve as moderators and commentators of the parallel forums. In the paper selection session, Professor Wu Biyu won the first prize; graduate students Zhao Xiangyang, Shi Shiyuan and Lu He won the second prize; nine graduate students, as well as two undergraduates, won the third prize. The number of CFL winners ranked among the top of all participating universities, fully demonstrating CFL’s leading positionin the field of scientific and technological translation talent cultivation, and laying a solid foundation for cultivating high-quality translation talents and for the development of the translation discipline.
