On the afternoon of June 7th, chaired by Dean Liu Qin, the College of Foreign Languages held a graduation ceremony for undergraduates majoring in English in Grade 2021 (Sino-US Cooperation) in the lecture hall.
Accompanied by the majestic national anthem, the ceremony began. Next, Zhang Hua, Vice President of USST, reviewed the development history of English (Sino-US Cooperation) in his message to the graduates, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the teachers from both China and the US who have worked hard for the cooperation program, and congratulated all the graduates, hoping that they will all cherish the school motto of “honesty, integrity, diligence, benevolence; learning, reflection, vision, aspiration”, work hard, and push forward positively to make a difference, writing new chapters in their future life journey.
Affected by the pandemic and traffic, the U.S. side’s school leaders and program directors were unable to attend the activity, so Ms. Elizabeth Hendrey, Vice President and Provost of Queens College of the City University of New York, and Professor Tao Wang, current Director of the Sino-US Cooperation Program of the American side, recorded a video to express their sincere wishes to the graduates.
During the ceremony, the college honored the undergraduates winning the titles of outstanding graduates of Shanghai, the outstanding graduates of USST, the outstanding graduates of the joint training program, the outstanding graduates of the cooperative program, and the Siyuan Alumni Scholarship. Li Zhen, donor of the scholarship, was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he was on a business trip. However, he recorded a video, in which he recalled his unforgettable college life and sent a heartfelt message to the graduates that difficulties and opportunities coexist in the pandemic, and as long as they work hard, they will surely be able to create a better future.
Then, accompanied by cheerful music, the leaders on the podium awarded graduation certificates to all graduates. Unusual as the period was, the College of Foreign Languages held this short but warm graduation ceremony for the graduates of English (Sino-US cooperation) to leave a beautiful and precious memory for all graduates while doing a good job in the prevention and control of the pandemic. After the ceremony, the leaders and supervisors of the college had a group photo taken with all the graduates.
