Adhering to the fine tradition of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) to improve the quality of teaching, and aiming at building a high-level foreign language college with distinctive USST features, the College of Foreign Languages attaches great importance to cultivating high-level and inter-disciplinary foreign language majors with an international vision and innovative ability, and seeking cooperation with innovative thinking. Our College has a wealth of international exchange and cooperation projects. In the forms of Sino-foreign cooperative education, joint double-degree training, long-term and short-term exchange projects, mutual visits between Chinese and foreign students, and joint teacher training, our College carries out international exchanges and cooperation in a multi-faceted manner, developing and establishing friendly and cooperative relations with many well-known universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Italy and many other countries with an average number of about 120 exchange students each year. Of these projects, the undergraduate education program for English majors jointly organized by University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the Queen’s College of the City University of New York, as a pioneer in the field of international cooperation, has been run for more than 20 years, sending about 1,600 talents to work at home and  abroad. In the meantime, our College actively takes in foreign students, providing them with Chinese and Chinese culture courses, as well as translation services and other related services for the university and its sister colleges or schools.

The College of Foreign Languages has adopted advanced international educational concepts, effectively utilizes international and domestic educational resources, improves students’ comprehensive applied ability in foreign languages, reinforces their professional knowledge in related fields, and strives to provide students with the opportunity to go abroad and contact multicultural environments to mold the students of our College in the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology into foreign language talents with an international vision and intercultural experience in the real sense.
