Teachers and Students from CFL’s German Department WonGood Results in “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” International Communication Power Short Video Competition

In order to serve the development of the country and demonstrate the communication power and creativity of Chinese college students, the Second “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” International Communication Power Short Video Competition was held as scheduled, aiming to encourage college students to tell Chinese stories well in foreign languages. The theme of the 2022 competition is 'Intelligent Manufacturing in China', which reflects the scientific and technological achievements of contemporary China, and displays the Chinese people's craftsmanshipcharacterized by a devotion of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as the pursuit of excellence.

More than 9,000 contestants from 606 colleges and universities in 32 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and special administrative regions participated in the competition, submitting more than 4,000 works in 15 languages, including English, German, French, Japanese, Spainish, Portugese, Italian, Korean, Arabic and Russian. The preliminary competition was divided into national tracks and provincial tracks, and a total of 3861 valid works were received, including 2757 national tracks and 1104 provincial tracks in Shandong, Jiangsu and Shanghai. After the evaluation of the organizing committee, a total of 402 works were promoted to the quarter-final round (including the top ten popular works which are also the top 10 TikTok likes).

11 students from CFL’s German Department, under the guidance of their instructor Doctor Meng Xiaoguo, have won various levels of awards, among whom two juniors Jiang Jiaqi and Xu Qiuhaostood out in the fierce competition.Their works,by combining the Olympic spirit and the continuous innovative spirit, won the first prize in Shanghai and was successfully promoted into the quater-final, winning the national second prize in the end. Nine freshmen are not to be outdone.After careful preparation, Zhang Shuyun finally won the second prize in Shanghai, and Chen Yifan, Zhu Dahui, Ji Duoduo, He Qian, Fan Xinai, Xue Rujun, Guo Xiaotian and Li Kangjie won the third prize in Shanghai. Instructor Meng Xiaoguo won the Excellent Instructor Award, and USST won the Excellent College Organization Award.

The competition was completed by students in the epidemic prevention and control stage. The teachers and students have overcome the adverse conditions brought by the heavy epidemic prevention and control work, and completed their works and spread Chinese stories through unremitting efforts, which reflects the deep integration of ideological and political elements of the college's curriculum and professional teaching. The teachers and students of the German Department will make persistent efforts in the future competitions to make more breakthroughs and add luster to the college and the school.
