On May 9th, Executive Vice President Deborah Sweeney, Vice President Linda Taylor, and Director of International Cooperation Program Vincent Cheung of Australia’s Western Sydney University (WSU) visited USST. Zhang Hua, vice President of USST, met with the delegation, accompanied by Liu Qin, Dean of College of Foreign Languages, and Xu Jingwei, Director of the International Exchange Office.
On behalf of USST, Zhang Hua extended a warm welcome to the delegationand thanked WSU for its long-term support to the cooperation between the two universities. He introduced USST’s history, discipline setting and scientific research achievements, especially the achievements and experience in international education. Sweeney expressed his gratitude to USST for its warm reception, introduced WSU’shistory and development, and highly admittedd USST’s educational concept and teaching mode.He also expressed his willingness to cooperate with USST in talent training, education and research etc. to further deepen the cooperation between the two universities.
The two parties then had an in-depth discussion and negotiation on the direction and details of the cooperation. Both sides agreed that the meeting was a successful discussion on cooperation and exchange, and of great significance to promoting the development of the education cause of bothuniversities. The talks not only enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between USST and WSU, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperations.
After the meeting, the WSU delegation visited the Hujiang International Cultural Park and held a meeting with English (Scientific Translation) students from College of Foreign Languages. The students displayed a high initiative in asking various questions. The delegation highly appreciated the students' solid professional quality and the strong humanistic atmosphere of the campus, and looked forward to further cooperations.

In December 2019, USST Vice President Zhang Hua and CFL Dean Liu Qinpaid a visit to WSU.The two sides held a negotiation and achieved an intention of cooperation on students joint training and teacher-student community research, and signed respectively in June 2020 and October 2021 a cooperation memorandum and agreement, thus carrying out in-depth cooperations in the Double Bachelor Degree Program of CFL’s English (ScientificTranslation) major studentsas well as the Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Programal and the Double Master Degree Program.
