Recently, the First “Campus Funny Talk” Competition hosted by the Graduate Student Association of College of Foreign Languages was successfully held in the Guohe Building. The competition attracted a number of students from the School of Management, School of Science, CFL and other colleges.Their witty and humorous talks received continuous applauses and laughters from the audience, who voted as judgesfor their favorite contestantsaccording to theirwonderful performance.The “Campus Funny Talk” Competition enriched the students’extracurricular life, fully demonstrated the players' ability of on-the-spot performance, language organization, innovative thinking and their daring personality to think, to speak and to do as college students of the new era.
The competition is divided into two rounds. The first round is the competition of social grace, involving two kinds of questions: 'reply with high EQ' and 'reply to trolls”. The contestants will answer on the whiteboard within 30 seconds, and briefly explain their reasons after the timing. This round of competition is a test of the players' ability to react on the scene.The players lived up to the expectations of the audience, courageously tackled with those tricky questions, especially the challenge of those trolling speeches often seen on the Internet, showing a high emotional intelligence. Seeing the wonderful performance of the players, the audience was also eager to try, and actively came to participate in the game, and the atmosphere was lively and interesting.
The second round of the competition is called 'You Can You Bibi”. The six contestants from the first round of the competition drew lots in 1v1 groups. The two sides first made a one and a half minutes of position statement, and then entered the five-minute free debate. The players used careful logic, cited various classics, demonstrating their excellent language organization skills and quick-mindedness.Bursts of applauses could be heard from time to time in the audience. In the end, the audience voted out the winners of the first, second and third prizes and the winner of the 'best talker' title.
