On March 25-26,2023, the Seventh National College Foreign Language Education Reform and Development High-end Forum, co-sponsored by Beijing Foreign Studies University, the Ministry of Education’sCollege Foreign Languages and LiteraturesProfessional Teaching Steering Committee (CFLLTSC), andCollege Foreign LanguagesTeaching Steering Committee (CFLTSC) and the Branch Committee of Foreign Language Teaching and Research of the China Institute of Higher Education, was successfully held in Beijing. Leaders of the Publicity Department of CCCPC and the Ministry of Education, experts of CFLLTSC and CFLTSC and more than 2,000 experts and scholars in the field of higher foreign language education gathered in Beijing, and nearly 100,000 colleagues of higher foreign language education attended the on-line conference. As a member of CFLTSC, Dean Liu Qin was invited by the conference to serve as the host of a special forum. Zhang Le, vice dean of CFL and Director of the Public English Teaching and Research Center, and Miao Peng, Deputy Director of the Public English Teaching and Research Center attended the meeting. All the faculty from CFL attended the on-line meeting to explore the new path of the modernization of foreign language education.

The subject of this year's forum is 'Unite Knowledge with Practice'. The six keynote reports made on 25th served as a guidancefor the development of higher foreign language education with their lofty historical standing, broad international perspective and profound strategic vision. Two cutting-edge forums organized by CFLLTSC and CFLTSC on 26thfocused on the new strategy of cultivating foreign language talents for foreign language majors and universities. In the special forum session, Dean Liu Qin hostedthe 'Textbook Construction Forum:Foreign Language Textbook Construction and Application Aimed at Talent Training', and made a dialogue with a number of college foreign language deans and senior experts, and had an in-depth discussionson the relationship between textbookss and students' comprehensive quality and integral development of English ability, compiling principles, new form of college English textbook construction and effective use.

Through participation in the Forum, CFL faculty learned, thinked and discussed a lot. By focusing on key issues such as the 'Four New' construction, 'the First-Class Course” construction, international communication personnel training, “Understand Contemporary China” series course construction, foreign language education digital transformation, textbook construction and teacher development, CFL facultystrive to have a reexamination of the core works of various departments, promote intelligent technology and foreign language education depth fusion, innovate education mode, improve educational results, also further the cultivationof more high-level international talents with a better understanding of contemporary China and the ability to take up the responsibility of national rejuvenation.
