On the morning of May 31, 2023, Zhang Le, Vice Dean of CFL, USST, Liu Man, Head of the Japanese Department, Bian Hong, Head of the German Department, Li Minmin, Director of the Educational Administration Office, and Cao Jiahang, Teaching Secretary, went to Shanghai Shidong Experimental School (SSES)for an investigation. Shen Hong, Principal of SSES, Xu Jun, Secretary of the General Party Branch, Vice Principal Huang Lifang, Teaching Director Chen Xi, and Wu Qing, Head of the German Teaching and Research Team, attended the ceremony. The two sides jointly signed the 'Agreement on the Construction of Talented Student Pool for USST' and held a grand unveiling ceremony.
Principal Shen Hong introduced SSES’s history, student size, training orientation, faculty, etc. He briefed the basic situation of the German class in detail,including the German Education Committee, the size of the German class, the setting and characteristics of DSD German courses, graduation destination, etc. He hoped that USST could send professional talents to SSES for internship practice, hold lectures so as to strengthen cooperation between the two schools, and better deliver high-quality students to USST. Vice Dean Zhang Le introduced the history, capabilities, faculty size, the study and living conditions of both CFL and USST, and welcomed teachers and students from SSES to visit and study at USST. Vice Dean Zhang Le and Principal Shen Hong then inaugurated the 'Talented Student Pool' on behalf of USST and SSES respectively. Finally, Principal Shen Hong warmly invited Vice President Zhang Le and his colleagues to visit the historical buildings of SSES, the former residence of SSES founder Nie Yuntai, the small auditorium, the art gallery, the 'one grain of rice' farm and other famous campus sites.

Founded in 1916, SSES (aka Shanghai Shidong High School) is one of the 100 famous historical schools in China. It is the only '12-year-persistent' public school based on a century-old school in Shanghai. Based on the school motto 'Decent in Character and Honest in Practice”, SSES strives to make students into 'sensible, easygoing, diligent, action-motivated' persons, and regard 'human development' as of primary importance. The unveiling ceremony indicates that the two schools will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation and prepare for the cultivation of more excellent innovative talents with compound, multilingual and all-round abilities.
