In order to broaden the field of postgraduate academic innovation, improve the students’ inovative ability, and promote mutual learning and exchange, CFL held the fourth postgraduate academic forum on the afternoon of March 7 - 'Integration of Language Application and Science and Technology from the Perspective of Multi-dimensional Research'. The majority of graduate students actively participated in the series of activities of the forum. All supervisors conscientiously guided graduate students to write academic papers and give strong support to the forum.
More than 50 manuscripts have been received in this forum. After expert review, 49 papers were accepted. A total of three thematic sub-forums were set up, and graduate students had oral academic exchanges on the spot. Three experts commented on the paper and put forward suggestions for revision. After being reviewed by experts inside and outside CFL, 15 papers won the first, second and third prizes. Qu Deqiang, CFL Party Secretary, Vice Dean Han Geling, Yuan Su Rong, Professor of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Normal University, Ni Jincheng, Gao Wencheng, Liu Luechang, Zhang Shunsheng and Wang Yingjun presented awards to the award-winning students.
Vice Dean Han Geling presided over the award ceremony and introduced the process of this forum and the selection of excellent papers. Professor Yuan Surong made an overall comment on the postgraduate thesis, believing that the submission topic selection is novel, the argumentation process is complete, and the graduate students already have academic research thinking and scientific research ability, but the innovation of academic research and the standardization of academic language still need to be strengthened.
After that, Professor Yuan gave an academic special report entitled 'Chinese-English Special Words-Comparative Research on Adverbial Related Words' for the students. He systematically introduced the concept, classification and semantic functions of English-Chinese adverbial related words, and used a large number of examples to compare and analyze the similarities and differences of English-Chinese languages. He proposed functional linguistics and cognitive linguistics, text linguistics and other multi-view research approaches. Professor Yuan's humorous speech and solid academic research skills have opened a new window of academic topic selection for graduate students, which has benefited teachers and students a lot.
This forum has a strong academic atmosphere, and the postgraduates are full of enthusiasm, showing a highspiritand tireless academic pursuit. The judges' professional comments and dedicated attitude served as role models for the students. The students said that they would listen to the guidance carefully, and try to do high-quality academical work and publish high-quality academic papers. This forum builds a platform for young students to exchange ideas and display academic research results, and has become one of the brand activities to improve the innovation ability of graduate students in CFL. CFL will continue to hold more excellent postgraduate academic forums, promote the integration and mutual learning of academic ideas, and promote the rapid development of first-class postgraduate education in the new era.
