Former Cultural Counselor Jia Jianxin Lectured on Sino-Austrian Diplomatic Relations and Cultural Exchanges

On the afternoon of April 14, Mr. Jia Jianxin, former Cultural Counselor of the Embassy in Austria, Distinguished Consultant of the German Research Center of Renmin University of China and Member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Shanghai Institute of Public Diplomacy, was invited to give a lecture entitled 'History and Current Situation of Sino-Austrian Diplomatic Relations and Cultural Exchanges' for teachers and students of the German Department of CFL.The lecture was presided over by Professor Wang E’nuo of the German Department.

At the beginning of the lecture, Counselor Jia Jianxin vividlyintroduced Austria's historical overview and basic national conditions. Then, combined with his many years of work experience at the Embassy in Austria, he introduced the cultural exchanges in the history of China and Austria, the development and current situation of Sino-Austrian diplomatic relations and cultural exchanges through specific activities carried out by the two countries in the fields of music, painting and other cultural and artistic fields. Counsellor Jia pointed out that when communicating with each other, we should be good at discovering the 'common points' between different cultures. Starting from the 'common points', we can better 'tell Chinese stories well and spread the voice of China'. Finally, Counsellor Jia encouraged students to study hard, lay a good foundation of language, expand their knowledge, comprehensively improve their ability in all aspects, and contribute to the cultural exchange between China and Germany and China and Austria.

This lecture has greatly benefited students, promoted German-speaking students' understanding of Sino-Austrian diplomatic relations and cultural exchanges, and ignited the spark in everyone's hearts to contribute to foreign cultural exchanges.
