From June 15 to16, Liu Qin, Dean of the School of CFL, went to four polytechnic universities in Xi’an for field research and study, accompanied by Huang Fang, Head of the English Department (Sino-US Cooperation), and Wu Juyan, Deputy Head of the English Department (Science and Technology Translation).
On the morning of 15 June,A delegation led by Dean Liu Qin came to Xi’an University of Technology (XUT) to carry out research and exchange. Yang Wenxuan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Foreign Languages of Xi’an University of Technology, Zhang Jie, Vice Dean, Liu Zhongyang, Head of the English Department, and Li Qingming, senior professor of English major, attended the exchange. At the symposium, the deans of both sides made an introduction to the basic situation of the development history, faculty and staff, and construction of discipline points of this college respectively. The participants had heated discussions on issues such as the construction of first-class English undergraduate majors, curriculum ideology and politics, innovation and entrepreneurship, and discipline competitions.

Subsequently, Liu Qin and her delegation went to the School of Foreign Languages of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), where they exchanged views with Dean Chen Xiangjing, Vice Dean Li Ying, Director of the MTI Center Zhu Yuan, and Professor Meng Yaru, Doctoral Supervisor of Interdisciplinary Studies.At the symposium, Chen Xiangjing made a key introduction on the construction of doctoral degree programs, the training of scientific research teams, and discipline professional development, while Liu Qin shared her views on the construction of first-class major for English undergraduate and the training of postgraduates. Afterwards, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on postgraduate training, curriculum ideology and politics and other aspects, and learned from each other and benefited a lot.

On the morning of 16th June, Liu Qin and her delegation came to the School of Foreign Studies of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) for research. Before the symposium, Dean Kong Jie personally led everyone to visit and study in the History Museum of NPU, and everyone was deeply impressed by the achievements made by NPU in the fields of aviation, aerospace and navigation and the contributions made to the country.

At the symposium, Dean Kong Jie made a comprehensive introduction of the college on the historical evolution, characteristic platform construction, undergraduate and master’s training, teaching team and etc. Dean Liu Qin focused on the situation of talent introduction, gradient construction and scientific research to share.The two sides then shared their experiences in professional and discipline construction, undergraduate and master’s training programs, discipline competitions and college students’ entrepreneurship incubation.Wang Gaozu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages of NPU, Zhou Shuang, Vice Dean, Ruan Hongmei, Director of the MTI Education Center, Zhu Yuanyuan, a backbone teacher of English, and Cui Xiaobin, Secretary of Postgraduate Teaching, attended the discussion.

In the afternoon of the same day, Liu Qin and her delegation came to the School of Foreign Languages of Xidian University (XDU) for research and discussion. Ma Gang, Dean of School of Foreign Languages of XDU, Ren Weiping, Head of English Department, and Zhou Zhenglu, Director of MTI Education Center, attended the forum.At the symposium, Liu Qin and Ma Gang respectively made an introduction to the basic situation of discipline construction, faculty, and postgraduate training of the college.Afterwards, everyone had in-depth exchanges on the undergraduate and graduate training program, curriculum ideology and politics and other issues. The two sides hope to take this opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two institutions, learn from each other’s strengths, and reach consensus in construction of new liberal arts to drive the high-quality development of the two institutions.
