Recently, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission announced the list of winners of the Third Shanghai Higher Education Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition, and the course “Comprehensive English” taught by Qu Lili won second prize in the New Liberal Arts Category, which is the first time for our college has been honored in this event.
With strong support from the college adminstration, the Comprehensive English teaching group for the English majors (Sino-U.S. joint program) was brave to challenge the teaching stereotypes. They restructured teaching content, innovated teaching methods, optimized teaching environment, and updated the teaching evaluation with a student-centered approach, which laid a solid foundation for their course to win the award. Since November 2022, Ms. Qulili has devoted herself to preparing for the competition. She continuously optimized the application materials, and eventually qualified for the final at the city level on behalf of the college after multiple rounds of elimination. Before the final, the experts are invited to offer training and guidance on the course, including the video materials, teaching reports on innovatioin, on-site defense materials, which prepared the participants for the city-level competition.
Higher Education Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition aims to promote and innovate the integration of information technology, learning and teaching, guide teachers to concentrate on cultivating talents, build a platform for faculty members to display their achievements and learn from each other. More importantly, this competition promotes ideological and political awarness in teaching and put the development of engineering, agriculture, medical science discipline on a new trajectory.
