On March 15th, the '13th National College English Dean/Department Head Senior Forum,' co-hosted by the Advisory Committee for College Foreign Language Teaching of the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai International Studies University, and organized by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, was held in Hangzhou. The theme of the forum was 'Pioneering New Paths, Shaping New Advantages,' focusing on how to leverage digitalization under the guidance of new ideas in the new era to systematically build a college English curriculum system, to promote teacher development in multiple dimensions, to shape an all-round educational ecosystem, and to pioneer a new digital path for college English teaching. Through multi-dimensional integration and collaborative governance, it aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of foreign language teaching and promote the construction of a community that integrates industry, academia, research, and the integration of schools, communities, and enterprises. Present at the forum are various leaders and professors such as Professor He Lianzhen, Chairwoman of the Advisory Committee for College Foreign Language Teaching of the Ministry of Education, CPC Party Secretary Yin Dongmei of Shanghai International Studies University, Vice President Zhou Jianghong of Zhejiang University, Vice President Zha Mingjian of Shanghai International Studies University, Vice President Liu Jianda of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Vice President Chai Gaiying of Zhejiang International Studies University, Vice President Wang Jianhua of Huaqiao University, CPC Deputy Secretary Zhang Jiamin of Henan University of Chinese Medicine, President Assistant Professor Hu Kaibao of Shanghai International Studies University, and President Sun Yu of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. The forum attracted nearly a thousand college English deans/department heads from all over the country to participate offline, with over 40,000 people watching the live broadcast online simultaneously.
Professor Liu Qin, the dean of our college, was invited to participate and unveiled the 'New Edition of College Advanced English' (Second Edition) at the opening ceremony. Professor Li Yinhua of Fudan University was the editor in chief for this set of textbooks, which was co-edited by the professors from Fudan University, East China Normal University, Soochow University, and was published by the National Geographic Learning of the United States. Our college has compiled the set of textbooks, the 'Listening and Reading', with professor Liu Qin and Zhang Le as the chief editors, with Bai Jun, Xue Haibin, Jin Zhaohui, Deng Yongping, Chen Zheng, Wang Yanhua, Miao Peng, and Ma Yuan responsible for the writing of the first to fourth volumes, which would be published in May 2024. This is the first time that our college's English teaching team has undertaken the task of writing a complete set of college English textbooks, boosting the social influence of the school and college.

Professor Liu Qin delivered a keynote speech titled 'Exploration of Academic English Teaching Reform in the Digital Age' at session two on the theme of 'Promoting Digital Transformation and Leading Teaching Reform'. During the speech, Professor Liu briefed the audience on the process of academic English teaching reform in science and engineering carried out by our university's academic English teaching team, as well as the transformation and achievements of academic English courses in terms of learning resources, teaching methods, and assessment methods in the context of the digital age. The speech received warm applause from all the participants.

2024 is a crucial year for comprehensively implementing the platform of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and a challenging year for further implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan. Our college will further deepen the reform of college English teaching and contribute wisdom and strength to the cultivation of talents with international visions and strong senses of innovation.
