Dean Liu Qin led the team to the 17th National English Major Dean/Department Head Senior Forum

On April 12th, the 17th National Senior Forum for English Majors/Department Heads, jointly organized by the Teaching Advisory Committee for Foreign Language and Literature Majors of the Ministry of Education, Yunnan University, and Shanghai Foreign Studies University, and hosted by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, was held in Kunming.  More than 500 deans/department heads from all over the country attended the conference offline, conducting in-depth discussions on core issues related to the development of English majors, including curriculum reform, foreign language education and teacher professional development, cross-cultural education and international communication capacity building, high-quality English textbooks and teaching, integration of industry and education, and high-quality talent cultivation.

Our Dean Liu Qin, Vice Dean Zhang Le, Deputy Director of the English (Sino US Cooperation) Department Jia Xiaoyun, and Deputy Director of the English (Science and Technology Translation) Department Wu Juyan attended the forum. Liu Qin was invited to host Parallel Forum 5 on 'Integration of Industry and Education and High Quality Talent Cultivation', where experts from 8 universities and enterprises engaged in lively discussions. Liu Qin made a summary report at the closing ceremony.


At the parallel forum, Dean Liu delivered a keynote speech titled 'Exploration of the Path for Cultivating High Quality English Majors in Science and Education Integration, Industry and Education Integration, and Engineering Colleges', introducing the exploration of the 'English, Technology, and Business Integrated Two Division Teaching Model'. Dean Liu also presented to the audience our experience on cultivating high-quality composite English talents through such projects as the Ministry of Education's industry and university cooperation and collaborative education project, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's industry and university research and practice plan, school research project courses, and student innovation and entrepreneurship projects. Her speech was were highly praised by the attending faculty members.

  Our English discipline is a national first-class undergraduate major construction program and a QS Stars five-star certified undergraduate discipline. Through this forum, participants from our college had in-depth exchanges with sister universities on the experience of cultivating high-quality talents in English majors, which will contribute to the further development of English education.
