On May 21st, the results of the 2024 National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) Shanghai Finals were announced. Xie Yixing, a graduate student from the School of Optoelectronics at our university, won the National Grand Prize. In this competition, our graduate students experienced fierce competition in the preliminary rounds at our university and in the Shanghai finals, and performed very well. Li Tingxuan, Weng Linlin, Tan Jiahao, Li Yanan, Ma Jiahuan, and other five students won the National First Prize. Li Jiong and other 30 students won the National Second Prize, and Jiang Yeqian and other 50 students won the National Third Prize. As a national A-level foreign language competition, NECCS aims to improve the comprehensive English proficiency of college students across the country. Since its establishment in 1999, the competition has been held for several consecutive years, attracting the participation of many prestigious universities across the country.

In recent years, with the strong support of the Graduate School and the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, our college has actively deepened the reform of English teaching for graduate students, improved the quality of English teaching for graduate students, and continuously stimulated their enthusiasm and initiative in learning English. At the same time, under the leadership and support of Vice Dean Han Geling, an experienced team of English teachers and supervisors for graduate students has established a ' NECCS Instruction Team' to coach our graduate students in various national English competitions. This team conducted extensive publicity and mobilization before the competition, attracting 991 graduate students to actively sign up for NECCS. In the final stage, the team members provided students with highly professional, wide-ranging, and personalized guidance through the coaching model of 'special lectures + face-to-face personalized coaching', effectively preparing students for the finals

The excellent results achieved in this competition demonstrate the English proficiency of our graduate students in the competitions, and further showcase the fruitful achievements of  English teaching for graduate students in our college
