CFLCollege of Foreign Languages Convened Joint Management Committee Meeting for Sino U.S. Joint Program
On June 10, the Joint Management Committee Meeting for the Sino U.S.Joint Programoperated collaboratively by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Queens College, the City University of New York, was held at USST. Vice President Cai Yonglian presided over the meeting. Carmen Cotei, Dean of the Business School at Queens College, CUNY, attended the meeting online. Present at the meeting were Tao Wang, Director of Business and Humanities Programs at the Business School of Queens College, CUNY, and Chen Qi, Director of the Office of International Exchange, Liu Qin, Dean of the CFL, and other relevant personnel.
At the meeting, Cai Yonglian spoke highly of the educational accomplishments and core values of the Joint Program developed by the two universities. She pointed out that over its three decade steady development and operation, the program has yielded fruitful educational results. More than 2,000 outstanding talents have been cultivated for a variety of sectors over the past 30 years, fully demonstrating the program’s educational quality and capacity for talent development. She stressed that the university will always uphold its original aspiration of win-win cooperation and its educational philosophy, so as to advance the strategic partnership between the two institutions toward higher quality and deeper level development.
Carmen Cotei fully acknowledged the fruitful accomplishments of the long term bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed Queens College’s full commitment to the program. She stated that this initiative stood as one of the core projects for Queens College to advance its internationalized education strategy and had important exemplary value. She expressed the hope that both sides would take the 30 year long cooperative experience as a new starting point. Building on well established cooperative mechanisms and a solid foundation of collaboration, the two parties could actively explore innovative avenues for cooperation and open up new areas for joint efforts.
During the meeting, Dean Liu deliveredan annual program operation report and Professor Tao Wang presenteda report on the annual faculty composition. Participants conducted in depth discussions, exchanged ideas and offered suggestions concerning the future development of the program,and subsequently signed the meeting minutes.
